as i've been coming to realize that i probably do experience having a special interest at different points in my life, i was kind of confused because i couldn't recall what i was into in early adolescence, what filled the gap between twilight and one direction. and then i remembered what the percy jackson series meant to me and i had a brain blast of unlocked memories. so that was one of them

#this is not an endorsement of any of these things it's just my truth. twilight is a series that causes material harm to people #it was basically mormon propaganda pushing a conservative agenda #the Quileute Tribe should get every cent that that property ever made for how specifically they were targeted #abysmally racist. i explicitly do not endorse that one #she said that these people specifically could turn into dogs. and 2 of them were given pedophilic themes. fully dehumanizing #hurting people still. continuing to cause harm with it's legacy. SO many people read these books at a crucial point in their development #i don't think we give enough credit to what a blight that woman set upon american society #i'll tell you on a personal level i think the messages about gender and sexuality strongly impacted me and my friends in a negative way #the fact that in the movies a lesbian played bella and a man played edward like he hated himself was so true to the source #bella gets married and becomes a mother and gets hyperfeminized and she will eternally be a man's wife and a mother #i really do want to dig into this but i think i need to take a lot of care w/ it bc it's a lot of sensitive topics #i think i would wanted to have sources i can cite to back up the parts that effect groups i am not a part of #from people who do have lived experience of how this harm effected their community at the time and today #i guess what i'm saying is a want to write a doctoral thesis on twilight's cultural impact and the conservative and racist ideology of it #and also i like percy jackson when i was a kid. im saying that as well. originally
